A new version of the GReader Notifier Android application is now available in the Android Market. This version requires that you have at least Android 1.5. It should work in Android 1.6, but I don't have it yet, so I don't know. If you have any trouble upgrading and don't want to wait for me to fix the problem, just uninstall, then reinstall the application. Sorry for the inconvenience. |

I have finally (I believe) found and fixed the problem with GReader Notifier that clears the preferences. I know it's been a long time coming and I appologize for not getting it done sooner, but it was a little hard to puzzle out. You can upgrade using the following steps (requires R33 update): |

It was a crystal clear day in the skykomish drainage. I met the other two Eric's and Gabe at the split rock takeout around 10am. We changed and threw my boat on their car to head up to the cable drop puttin. |

As many of you have reported, sometimes GReader Notifier doesn't seem to update and sometimes when you open the application, your preferences are blank. This forces you to re-enter your preferences which is quite annoying, I know. I've found out what is causing this problem and will deploy a fix for it within the next couple of weeks. I appologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. |

I had a great time on the Middle section of the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River (Middle Middle) today. I met Willie and Cyn at the takeout around 10AM. After changing we headed on up to the put in. We decided to put in at Island Drop because there's not much between the Concrete Bridge and there, and it's a great access point. |

After some great feedback from people have downloaded GReader Notifier, I've made some updates and released version 1.10. You have to manually download the application again, as the Android Market currently doesn't automatically tell you that new versions are available. To do this, go to the Android Market application on your Android device (probably a G1). Once there, select the "My Downloads" button. Scroll down to the "GReader Notifier" application and select it. When developing applications for Google Android, there's a great way to implement your preferences using an xml, much like you would for a regular layout. The added benifit of doing it this way is that you don't have to implement how the preference values are saved. However, one of the problems is that there are only a couple of preference types implemented. |

In a previous post, GWT Implementation of GMaps Utility Library's Marker Manager, I mentioned that I was working on some new features that would allow for more versatility in managing Markers, and possibly any Overlay. I've successfully created an Overlay Manager implementation that I believe works pretty well. You can download the source code here. The OverlayManagerImpl class has the following features: |

Now that we had a permit and the group set, we had to make this trip happen. Planning the logistics of a 3 week trip is toch enough, but a 3 week trip on a river totally cut off from civiliation was frightening. Luckily, a friend of mine used to be a commercial raft guide on the Grand Canyon. As soon as I got my permit, I started pestering him with questions. His best advice was to go with an outfitting company for the raft gear and food. Not only do they do a ton of work for you, they also know all the regulations. So you're less likely t |
